Maryam Riaz Watto, sister of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has voiced concerns regarding the potential abduction of her sister.

In a recent statement, she mentioned conflicting reports about Bushra Bibi’s whereabouts, with some claiming she has been arrested while others suggest she has reached Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Maryam expressed the belief that Bushra Bibi may have been forcibly taken.

Maryam emphasized that if Bushra Bibi were in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and safe, she would surely make contact with her family. She noted that there was significant momentum for the ongoing sit-in, asserting that Bushra Bibi would not leave the protest site. She reiterated that only Imran Khan has the authority to end the sit-in, not the PTI political committee.

In an emotional video statement, Maryam Riaz Watto claimed that as the crackdown began, PTI leaders and workers fled Islamabad, but her sister remained in the city. Her voice trembled as she declared Bushra Bibi’s determination to continue fighting for her husband’s release.

At the time of her statement, Islamabad was largely deserted of PTI protestors. During the police operation, it was reported that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi escaped in a vehicle along with fleeing workers.

They were last seen near Kalsoom Plaza in the Blue Area, where only a few PTI protestors were present.

Sources indicated that as the operation commenced, Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur fled from the D-Chowk area, reportedly in the same vehicle. Although it remains unclear where they went, it is believed they left from Jinnah Avenue. Police sources confirmed that law enforcement successfully stopped the vehicle of Ali Amin Gandapur’s guards while pursuing the vehicle carrying Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur.

Bushra Bibi’s vehicle was directed towards the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, prompting an Islamabad police squad to follow. As the leadership escaped, PTI workers abandoned their vehicles on Jinnah Avenue and Seventh Avenue, dispersing towards residential areas.
