Funeral prayers of security personnel who were martyred during the protest were offered at the Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi on Tuesday, the military’s media wing said.

They were identified as Naik Muhammad Ramzan Shaheed, 47, a Karak resident, Sepoy Gulfam Khan Shaheed, 29, a Rawalpindi resident, and Sepoy Shah Nawaz Shaheed, 33, a Sibi resident.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, senior serving military and civil officials attended the funeral.

“Pakistan cannot afford any chaos and bloodshed for achieving vested political purposes. These acts of violence are unacceptable and highly condemnable which are bordering the limits of restraint by the law enforcement agencies,” PM Shehbaz said.

“The entire nation pays homage to the martyred Rangers soldiers and all those police officials who have embraced shahadat and those who are injured during these riots,” he added.

Bodies of martyrs were taken to their native home town where they would be laid to rest with military honour.
