Police execute ‘controlled explosion’ outside US embassy in London
Metropolitan Police conducted a controlled explosion outside the US embassy in Nine Elms, London, following reports of a suspicious package, The Guardian reported.
“We’re aware of concerns circulating and have cordoned off the area as a precaution while our officers investigate the package,” a police spokesperson said while addressed online speculation about the incident.
Authorities later confirmed that the “loud bang” heard nearby was indeed the controlled explosion executed by police. The situation is being closely monitored as investigations continue.
They continue to investigate a suspicious package discovered outside the US embassy in London, with cordons remaining in place. Early indications suggest that there Was no evidence pointing to a terrorist threat.
“Local authorities are investigating a suspicious package outside the US Embassy in London. Met Police are present and have closed Ponton Road out of an abundance of caution. We will provide further updates when available,” the US embassy posted on X.
