Govt eases restrictions in Punjab as smog situation improves
The Punjab government has announced a relaxation of restrictions on outdoor activities starting November 22, as air quality in Lahore and other cities shows signs of improvement.
Public and private parks, historical sites, museums, and sporting events will reopen, but must close by 8 PM. Citizens are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, including wearing masks in open areas and avoiding strenuous exercise if over 65 or if they have heart or lung conditions.
Children under five should not stay in playgrounds for extended periods.
Marketplaces in cities such as Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala will also close at 8 PM, with some exemptions for essential businesses like pharmacies and grocery stores.

This comes after a severe smog crisis led to strict measures, including school closures, earlier this month.
The provincial government previously imposed a complete ban on public access to parks and recreational areas due to dangerously poor air quality.
As conditions improve, officials hope these new measures will allow citizens to enjoy the outdoors safely.
