Education boards raise passing marks for all exams
The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) has announced a significant increase in passing and grace marks for examinations conducted by education boards across Pakistan.
The decision was made during a meeting in Karachi attended by representatives from education boards nationwide.
The IBCC voted to raise the passing marks in each subject from 33% to 40%, and to increase grace marks from three to five. Previously, students scoring 30 marks could receive three grace marks to pass; under the new IBCC ruling, students must now achieve a minimum of 35 marks to be eligible for the five grace marks.
The committee also stipulated that grace marks will not be awarded to students failing more than two subjects. The new policy will be implemented for examinations commencing in 2025.
