PTI leadership avoid physical media interviews over ‘strict instructions’

PTI leader Junaid Akbar Khan affirms commitment to protests
Why differences with Ali Amin Gandapur?| Aaj News

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Junaid Akbar Khan has clarified that his differences with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur were not new, but that doesn’t mean he won’t participate in upcoming protests.

Khan has urged his followers to march towards Islamabad on November 24 for the “restoration” of democracy and the judiciary.

Ruling coalition leaders have slammed the PTI for causing unrest in the country with such protests.

In reaction, the PTI founder set four demands for ending the protest. They are related to the recent steps taken by the government like the 26th Constitutional Amendment. According to former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, Khan’s demands “are not wrong.”

Recent reports suggested that Khan was absent from a crucial PTI meeting in Peshawar, where several disgruntled leaders were also noted to have attended.

In an interview with Aaj News’ programme Spotlight with Munizae Jahangir on Tuesday, Khan stated: “We are aligned under Imran Khan’s agenda and leadership. Whenever Khan calls, we will be there.”

He added that he had previously faced the most arrests during protests at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, reiterating his commitment to the cause.

The PTI leader revealed that he tweeted about the Shakil Khan issue, which displeased the KP chief minister and led to his de-notification. Following that, he found it impossible to visit the CM’s House.

He stated that attending the meeting was “inconsequential; what truly matters is their presence on the 24th.”

When asked why he didn’t come to Aaj News’ studio for an interview, he said: “The party has strictly instructed everyone not to get arrested, which is the reason for his absence.”
