A head constable fatally shot the Chief Security Officer of the Police Training School, Inspector Muhammad Afzal, before taking his own life at the Punjab Constabulary in Farooqabad.

The altercation stemmed from a grievance regarding duty negligence.

Late last night, during a routine check at the SSP office, Chief Security Officer Afzal discovered Head Constable Tahir Hussain asleep on duty.

Afzal subsequently filed a written complaint about the incident.

This morning, as Inspector Afzal was heading to prepare for training at the Police Training School, Tahir confronted him near the firing range, where he opened fire with a service rifle, killing Afzal and then committing suicide.

Inspector Afzal was from Faisalabad, while Tahir, who took his own life, was from Hafizabad. Both officers were on deputation at the training school.
