The ongoing delays in passport printing in Pakistan are set to improve with the arrival of 10 advanced desktop printing machines from abroad.

Sources indicate that these machines will become operational by next week, effectively doubling the current printing capacity.

Currently, approximately 22,000 passports are printed daily, but this number is expected to rise significantly.

With around 50,000 applications being submitted each day for new or renewed passports, the enhancement in capacity is crucial to address the backlog.

The issue of passport delays has been a topic of discussion in the National Assembly. In response to concerns raised by Pakistan People’s Party member Aga Rafiullah, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar assured that the government is actively working to expedite the passport issuance process.
