The US Department of State firmly rejected allegations suggesting American involvement in the ousting of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday.

During the daily briefing, spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized that legal matters concerning Khan are to be resolved by Pakistani courts.

“As we have said many times, the allegations that the US played any role in his removal from office are false.”

He reiterated that the political landscape of Pakistan is ultimately determined by its citizens, in accordance with their laws and constitution.

Addressing concerns about members of Congress who have called on President Biden to advocate for Khan’s release being belittled on social media, Miller remarked, “We do not know who is behind circulating that information, but if people have issues with US officials, they should engage on the merits of those issues, rather than resorting to personal attacks related to religion or sexual orientation.”
