Queen Camilla was seen burst into tears when King Charles referenced mortality while speaking about his fight against cancer in a Samoa village on Saturday, Marie Claire reported.

“I will always cherish this part of the world and hope to return one day,” King Charles said and added that they would take “very special memories” from their time in the island.

The tour concluded with a traditional Ava ceremony in the village of Siumu, where the king was honoured with the title of To’aiga-o-Tumua. He appeared touched by the warm reception he received throughout the visit.

While some reports indicated that Queen Camilla was seen laughing to the point of tears during the ceremony, both the king and queen displayed deep emotions as they bid farewell.

During the farewell ceremony, the village chief expressed gratitude to King Charles, noting, “Your father, Prince Philip, visited us, as did your brothers. Thank you for taking the time to come; your royal visit has uplifted our community.”

In February, King Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis and recent reports indicate that “his treatment is progressing positively.” Despite undergoing treatment, the king has continued his international royal tour, accompanied by two doctors during his trip to Australia and Samoa.

At the farewell event, King Charles spoke about the impressive decorations lining the roadsides, stating, “We have been so moved by the beautiful way in which all the villages have adorned the streets; it truly reflects something special about Samoa.”

According to the Daily Mail, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s royal tour of Australia and Samoa has been deemed a “resounding success.” The report stated that the tour was viewed by Buckingham Palace as a “significant test of the king’s reign and exceeded all expectations.”
