Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has expressed his delight following his team’s commanding 4-0 victory against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, saying that he was pleased with the way team played.

“Everyone executed the plan we had set and gave their all,” he was quoted as saying in a statement on the website.

Flick joined Barcelona in May this year on a contract until June 30, 2026 after his successful stint at Bayern Munich. He is the third German in the club coaching history, after Hennes Weisweiler and Udo Lattek.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice in El Clasico, dashing Madrid’s hope to extend their run of unbeaten games to 43 in the league, which would have equalled the record set by Barcelona between April 2017 and May 2018.

Barcelona finished 10 points behind Madrid in La Liga last season, but this season they are investing all their efforts in young players including Spanish teenage star Lamine Yamal, 17.

“We were aware of how to defend effectively and adhered to our strategy, even though Madrid limited our space. In the second half, we gained much more control of the ball, and the entire team performed exceptionally well,” Flick said

According to reports, he appears to have blind trust in Frenkie de Jong. When Flick joined Barcelona, he was keenly aware of de Jong’s recovery status. The midfielder had just been sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained while training with the Dutch national team.

Throughout his recovery, Flick stayed closely involved, demonstrating a clear commitment to supporting one of the club’s most valued midfielders.

When asked about the team’s highly offside trap, the German football manager attributed the success to the players’ collective mindset.
