The PTI has postponed its protest scheduled for Tuesday (tomorrow) at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, the party chairman said in a video message on Monday. It was decided during the PTI core committee meeting.

“The federal government has officially contacted us and assured us that doctors will be sent to Adiala Jail tomorrow morning while restoring Imran Khan’s access to doctors,” PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan said.

Moments earlier, Aaj News while citing sources had reported the development.

The decision comes as a relief for the government as the country is all set to host a heads-of-government gathering of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the federal capital.

They added that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had informed PTI Chairman Gohar Khan about the decision.

It is expected that Imran Khan’s party would announce its next plan of action after the completion of the SCO meeting and if the government fails to complete its demands.

Party chairman Gohar Ali Khan and former National Assembly Asad Qaiser had opposed the PTI’s initial decision to protest during the SCO summit.

Gohar stated that he had sought time from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi after the latter assured him of the offer and placed it before the party’s political and apex committees.

“The PTI leadership and the political committee unanimously accepted it and given this postponed tomorrow’s protest.”
