How Ratan Tata influenced a Zohaib and Nazia Hassan album
Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan’s brother, Zoheb Hassan, has shared his memories on social media following the passing of renowned Indian industrialist Ratan Tata.
Zoheb took to his social media to pay tribute to Tata, who recently passed away, stating that his sister and him received a call from Tata if the duo wanted to record a song for a music company CBS India on the phone call.
Excitedly, Nazia asked their mother if Ratan could visit them to discuss the project.
On the appointed Friday, Ratan arrived at their home in Wimbledon, impeccably dressed and exuding a gentle demeanor. His sincere approach left a lasting impression on the siblings. Without boasting about his accomplishments, Ratan encouraged them to move forward with the project, emphasizing the importance of involving their parents and a lawyer in the agreement process.
This initial meeting led to the production of the groundbreaking #YoungTarang album, potentially featuring the first music videos in India and South Asia, coinciding with the launch of MTV in the USA. The album gained immense popularity, even outselling the iconic “Disco Deewane.”
Zohaib recalled their first official meeting with Ratan at the launch of the album at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, where they learned about his remarkable stature in the business world. Following the launch, Ratan invited Nazia and Zohaib to his home for dinner, where they were surprised to find him living in a modest two-bedroom flat, accompanied by his sister and a beloved Alsatian dog.
Zohaib recounted another encounter with Ratan on Bond Street in London, where Ratan inquired about his family and revealed he was in the UK to look at airplanes, later discovered to be for Air India.
Reflecting on Ratan Tata’s legacy, Zohaib described him as a living example of how one can be an iconic businessman while remaining a true gentleman. He expressed that Ratan’s absence will be deeply felt and that his memory will always hold a special place in their hearts.
