The Islamabad Transport Authority has introduced new guidelines for public transport vehicles in the Federal Capital to enhance safety and ensure fair services.

These measures emphasize passenger safety, prioritize vulnerable commuters, and address issues related to overcharging and violations, according to a spokesperson from the ICT administration.

Key requirements include the clear display of fitness certificates and route permits on the front glass of all public transport vehicles. Additionally, both the front and back windows of rental cars must prominently indicate their rental status.

Women and senior citizens to receive priority seating at the front of public transport vehicles. Vehicles must also adhere to their assigned routes as specified in their permits, with legal action pending against transport coordinators (Adda Munshi) for noncompliance.

For vehicles using CNG, obtaining a Cylinder Pass Certificate from OGRA-approved stations is mandatory to ensure safety. Drivers are required to follow designated road lanes and routes while operating their vehicles.

The spokesperson reiterated that overcharging and overloading are strictly forbidden. The use of pressure horns and playing music inside vehicles is also prohibited. Vulnerable passengers should be given priority seating and charged 50% less than the standard fare.
