At least three security personnel were killed and four others injured in a bomb blast in Kalat district, Balochistan, on Saturday, BBC Urdu reported.

The incident occurred on the Skalko Road near Qalat city, according to a senior official from the local administration.

Unidentified individuals had planted explosive materials at the location known as Dasht Mahmood on Skalko Road. The explosives detonated as a vehicle carrying security forces was passing by, the police official said.

The official added that three personnel aboard the vehicle were killed due to the blast while four others sustained injuries. The wounded have been transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.

An official has confirmed that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kalat is located approximately 150 kilometres south of Quetta city and is populated by various Baloch tribes.
