Fact check: Did Imran Khan praise Nawaz Sharif in viral video?
Some members of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) shared a video of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on social media, claiming that he praised Nawaz Sharif.
A thorough review of the videos revealed that they had been edited and dubbed, making them misleading. This video was also shared on Instagram.
In a 90-second clip, Imran Khan actually praises Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, stating that while he had many disagreements with Bhutto, he acknowledged that Bhutto stood up for his and the country’s dignity and sovereignty.
Upon closer inspection of the viral video, minor edits can be noticed just three and nine seconds into the clip. The audio of Imran Khan was altered and layered with a different voice, misleading viewers on a large scale.
The video circulated on social media, particularly on X, suggesting that Khan is commending Pakistani politician Nawaz Sharif and encouraging him to stand up and fight for the country.
On September 30, PML-N members began sharing this video, which appears to show Imran Khan praising the PML-N leader.

The original video of Imran Khan was uploaded on March 15, 2022, on the 24 News YouTube channel, where he was addressing overseas Pakistanis and praising Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
