PTI info secretary skips Oct 4 protest announcement in clarification video
The PTI’s newly appointed information secretary, Shaikh Waqas Akram, denied on Monday a report that Imran Khan was planning to remove Barrister Gohar as party chairman. However, in the clarification video, he missed a key announcement made by the former prime minister earlier in the day: the plan for a protest on October 4 at D-Chowk.
Khan received party leaders in Adiala Jail on Monday and he was briefed about PTI’s Rawalpindi protest held on September 23.
PTI social media activists claimed on X, erstwhile Twitter, that Khan was angry at party leaders’ announcement to call off the protest by the evening without reaching the Liaquat Bagh. Khan’s sister Aleema Khan also quoted him as saying that “protests should not have ended.”
Some of the PTI social media activists claimed that the PTI founder admonished Azam Swati and declared that Gohar was a “coward” and should be replaced.
TV channels, including Aaj News, reported that Khan was planning to remove Gohar as the party chairman.
But Akram later released a video denying the reports about Gohar.
The PTI information secretary confirmed that Khan received a briefing about the party’s protest in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
On social media and a few TV channels, a news report is being circulated attributing a statement to the former prime minister that he has named Ali Amin Gandapur and Barrister Gohar. “The statement that is being attributed is fabricated and baseless. You people should rather than focusing on this type of propaganda focus on your protest,” said Waqas Akram.

However, PTI supporters were quick to mention that Akram had skipped the mention of PTI’s planned October 4 protest at D-Chowk.
Some said they would only believe Aleema Khan.
Akram only mentioned PTI’s protest planned for October 2 in three cities and October 5 in Lahore.
