Imran decides to make major change for unity within PTI

Barrister Gohar likely to be removed as party chairman

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has reportedly agreed to make a major change in the party to keep its ranks united.

According to sources, Khan has agreed to a proposal to remove Barrister Gohar as the party’s chairman.

Veteran party leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser is said to be a leading candidate for Gohar’s replacement.

The sources claimed that the message has already been conveyed to Qaiser.

The move is aimed at resolving conflicts within the party, the sources claimed.

The former speaker went to Adiala Jail, where Khan is incarcerated, on Thursday but a meeting could not take place despite a long wait. The formal announcement of Qaiser’s appointment was resultantly delayed.

The move comes soon after Secretary Information Raoof Hassan was replaced by Sheikh Waqas Akram.

A few weeks ago, Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan had been replaced by Salman Akram Raja.

Imran Khan relinquished the post of PTI chairman, which he had held since the party’s inception, after his conviction in the Toshakhana case disqualified him from running for Public Office.
