The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced on Tuesday that the passport validity requirement for the UAE’s visa amnesty program has been reduced from six months to one month.

Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, the ICP director-general, stated that this change allows violators to rectify their status without needing to renew their passports if their validity is under six months, unlike the previous requirement.

This adjustment aims to help violators avoid the lengthy process of renewing passports through embassies in the country.

Al Khaili emphasized that the new decision encourages visa violators to take advantage of the two-month amnesty program, which runs until October 31.

Launched on September 1, the amnesty program is designed to help violators either leave the country without receiving an entry ban stamp or secure a job and remain in the country with the appropriate visa.

He also urged violators to reach out to the ICP call center for any questions or concerns, so the relevant team can address their challenges and provide solutions.
