Security arrangements tightened for ongoing polio vaccination drive in Pakistan
The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has reviewed security arrangements for the ongoing polio vaccination drive across Pakistan.
The meeting was chaired by NEOC Coordinator Dr. Shahzad Baig and attended by representatives from various government agencies, including the Ministry of Health, the Pakistan Army, and the police.
The meeting discussed the security challenges faced by polio vaccination teams in different parts of the country. It was noted that polio workers have been targeted by militants in the past, and that there is a need to ensure their safety during the current campaign.
The NEOC has decided to deploy additional security personnel to protect polio teams in high-risk areas.
The meeting also discussed the use of technology to track the movement of polio teams and to monitor their safety.
