A Dubai-based start-up is revolutionizing the electric vehicle market by offering repurposed electric cars for Dh70,000, significantly lower than the typical price of newly manufactured EVs, which often exceed Dh100,000.

The company, Peec Mobility, is set to begin deliveries of its innovative ReCar model in the second quarter of 2025.

The ReCar, which transforms retired petrol vehicles—like the Toyota Camry—into electric sedans, was showcased at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Dubai.

According to founder Zach Faizal, this pioneering approach not only extends the lifecycle of older vehicles but also provides an affordable alternative for environmentally conscious consumers and businesses.

Peec Mobility claims that using existing vehicle bodies and chassis reduces manufacturing costs by 30% and speeds up production time by 80%.

The ReCar boasts a range of up to 300 kilometers on a full charge and features interiors made from recyclable materials, aiming to deliver a new-car experience without the harmful emissions associated with traditional petrol vehicles.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s ambitious goal to increase the share of electric vehicles on the road to 50% by 2050 and contributes to broader efforts to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030.

With over 30,000 registered electric vehicles in Dubai as of April 2024, Peec Mobility’s innovative solution could play a crucial role in enhancing the city’s sustainable transport options.
