Following a wave of targeted killings of police officers in Lakki Marwat, protests against the violence have now spread to Bajaur.

In Lakki Marwat, police protests entered their third day with officers setting up additional sit-ins at Manjiwala Chowk and Dara Pezu, effectively blocking all roads leading to the city.

The protests began on September 9, with officials demanding full authority for the police force, protection for officers and personnel, and the removal of intelligence agency personnel from police lines.

They claim that the police can eliminate terrorism within three months if given the necessary power. Other demands include the reinstatement of the police union and the closure of the isolated and unsafe Bragi police station.

Protesters today declared their intention to expand the scope of the protests. “We will continue our protests until our demands are met,” they stated.

On Tuesday, protesters announced that officers from Khyber, Bannu, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan would join the sit-in.

The protests stem from the recent deaths of five police officers in Lakki Marwat over the past week, all killed by unidentified assailants.

A six-member committee has been formed to facilitate negotiations with authorities.

Police officials have issued a two-day ultimatum to officials to address their demands.

The officials have said that their sit-ins will continue for two more days and will expand further if their demands are not met.

Police officers in Bajaur have announced a sit-in protest at the Police Lines Ground, Headquarters Khar, citing their frustration over ongoing targeted killings and the deaths of their colleagues.

The officers have also declared a boycott of polio vaccination duties.
