National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq established on Tuesday a special committee led by Sergeant-at-Arms Ashfaq Ahmed to address the recent arrests of PTI lawmakers at the gates of Parliament House.

The committee is tasked with thoroughly reviewing footage from all cameras within Parliament House, as directed by the speaker. He has instructed the committee to submit a complete report on the incident within 48 hours.

While reaffirming his commitment, Sadiq emphasised that there would be no leniency for those who undermine the dignity of Parliament. He stated that “strict action would be taken against any department,” including the Islamabad administration and police, that disrespects Parliament.

The committee would also investigate the reasons behind the power outage at Parliament House, ensuring a comprehensive review of the events surrounding the incident.
