A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bound for Peshawar was forced to make an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport, due to a technical fault.

The flight, PK-284, had taken off from Lahore and was approximately 50 minutes into its journey when the technical issue arose. Air traffic controllers advised the pilots to return to Dubai, where the plane landed safely, on Tuesday, September 10.

Following the landing, passengers were escorted to the airport lounge and their health was assessed as a precautionary measure. No injuries were reported.

The nature of the technical fault is not yet known, and PIA is investigating the incident.

This is the second incident involving a PIA flight in recent weeks. On August 22, 2024, a PIA flight from Lahore to Karachi caught fire while taxiing for takeoff. The fire was extinguished, and all passengers and crew were evacuated safely.

The Pakistani government has ordered an investigation into the latest incident. The results of the investigation will be crucial in determining whether the technical fault was caused by negligence or by factors beyond PIA’s control.
