Karachi Zoo’s last Bengal tigress dies
The Karachi Zoo has reported the death of its last Bengal tigress, which succumbed to health complications after a prolonged illness.
The elderly tigress died on Thursday, leaving the zoo with only two lionesses, a lion, and a pair of lions.
The female tiger, which had been ill for a long time, died a week ago, making her the oldest among the animals at the zoo. In recent weeks, she faced several health issues, and although treatment was provided, she could not recover.
This Bengal tiger had been living alone for quite some time, and now the zoo is left with two lionesses, one lion, and a pair of lions. According to the zoo administration, the female tiger lived out her natural lifespan.
Her solitary existence followed the deaths of other tigers over the years, including an imported pair and a male brought from Lahore.
While the zoo has previously housed several pairs of Bengal tigers, there have been no births in decades.
