Heavy rains have continued to wreak havoc across Sindh, Punjab, KP and Balochistan.

Meanwhile, torrential rain in Sindh has added to the difficulties, with two pregnant women dying after ambulances got stuck in mud in Thatta, and two children drowning in rainwater in Tando Muhammad Khan.

Punjab

In Punjab, Lahore experienced heavy rainfall late at night, with significant downpours in areas like Muslim Town, Kalma Chowk, Johar Town, Bhati, and Mozang Chungi, turning many streets and alleys into streams.

The highest rainfall recorded was 174 mm at Barkat Market in Nishtar Town, followed by 91 mm in Gulshan Ravi, 86 mm in Gulberg, and 82 mm at Lakshmi Chowk.

Following the Chief Minister of Punjab’s instructions, Water and Sanitation Agency (LDA) Lahore (WASA) MD, along with the Lahore Commissioner, visited various areas of the city and directed the immediate clearance of low-lying areas using all available resources.

In Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and Sargodha, as well as several other areas of Punjab, rainfall has caused low-lying areas to become submerged, and power outages have occurred in many regions.

The adverse weather has also disrupted flight operations between Islamabad and Sialkot, leading to the diversion of six flights.

KP

In South Waziristan, heavy rain in various parts of Barmal has resulted in flooding in streams and rivers. Additionally, several areas in Azad Kashmir have experienced rainfall.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted heavy rain in some areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, and Central Punjab today, while rain is also expected in various cities of Sindh today and tomorrow.

In Balochistan, torrential rains have caused devastating floods, with a vehicle swept away in Sibi resulting in two fatalities.

In Balochistan, floodwaters have washed away roads, bridges, and homes. In Sibi, two individuals lost their lives when a vehicle was swept away by the flood.

The river near Machka, Qilla Abdullah overflowed, damaging orchards, crops, and homes, while many roads and bridges in Qilla Saifullah and Ziarat were also washed away.

Affected individuals in Jaffarabad and Nasirabad are waiting for aid under open skies, facing food shortages, and low-lying areas in Khuzdar, Loralai, Sibi, and Lasbela are submerged. Additionally, floods in Rajanpur have destroyed settlements and crops, leading to traffic disruptions on the Ziarat-Quetta highway.

Sindh

In Sindh, although the rain has stopped, it has left behind a trail of destruction. Roads are damaged, and low-lying areas remain flooded. Ambulances in the villages in Thatta got stuck in mud, resulting in the deaths of two pregnant women while being transported to the hospital.

In Tando Muhammad Khan, two children drowned in rainwater, and several houses collapsed in Thari Mirwah due to the downpours.
