Punjab police foil attack by Khawarij terrorists in Mianwali, one injured
Punjab Police successfully thwarted an attack by terrorists of the Fitna Al Khawarij in Mianwali on Sunday, resulting in the injury of one police official.
Late at night, terrorists armed with rocket launchers and hand grenades targeted the Qabul Khel police checkpoint. However, the Punjab Police responded robustly, repelling the attack and forcing the assailants to flee.
According to a police spokesperson, between 12 and 14, terrorists took advantage of the darkness to launch their assault on the Qabul Khel checkpoint.
The spokesperson noted that the alertness of the police officers stationed at the checkpoint was crucial in preventing the attack, as they launched heavy retaliatory fire against the attackers.
Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the incident, and a search operation has been initiated in the area to apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
Punjab Inspector General (IG) Usman Anwar commended the brave officers at the Kabul Khel checkpoint for their effective defense against the attack. He stated that this was the ninth unsuccessful assault on Punjab Police by terrorists in recent months, emphasizing that the police remain a formidable barrier against threats at inter-provincial border posts.
The IG reaffirmed the commitment of the police to thwart any malicious intents of the enemy in the future. Meanwhile, after the attack, District Police Officer (DPO) Mianwali Akhtar Farooq arrived to encourage the officers.
DPO Farooq went to the frontline and praised the troops for thwarting the attack, boosting their morale.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Esa Khel and Station House Officer (SHO) were also present at the police check post with a heavy police presence.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also remarked that the Punjab Police has once again thwarted the wicked plans of the Kharijite terrorists.
While praising the police for successfully repelling the attack by Kharijite terrorists at the check post in Mianwali, the Interior Minister noted that the police personnel stationed at the Isa Khel check post courageously drove away 14 foreign terrorists, delivering a strong response to those who attempted to attack under the cover of darkness.
Naqvi commended the professionalism and bravery of the police officers who thwarted the attack and saluted the brave sons of the Punjab Police for their efforts.
The Interior Minister emphasized that the police have consistently demonstrated bravery and courage in the fight against terrorism, playing a commendable role as a fortified barrier in this ongoing battle.
