KP cabinet approves resolution for Imran Khan’s release

Cabinet also approves resolution seeking dismissal of cases against Murad Saeed

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved a resolution to send a request to the federal government for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan. The cabinet also approved a resolution to seek the dismissal of cases against Murad Saeed.

The resolution, which was approved by the provincial assembly, cites Khan’s age of 71 and the associated risks to his physical and mental health. It also endorses the opinion of the Human Rights Commission regarding his situation.

The resolution states that Khan and his associates have been “forcibly disappeared” and calls for his immediate release. It demands an independent investigation into Khan’s “enforced detention” and urges action against those responsible for human rights violations.

The provincial cabinet has also included a demand for ensuring security for Murad Saeed in its resolution, alongside approving the submission of provincial assembly resolutions to the federal government.

It also decided to enhance police capabilities and address terrorism cases in the province. The cabinet approved 791 new positions for police in the Tank and Lakki Marwat districts to strengthen law enforcement.

Moreover, the cabinet sanctioned 16 prosecutor positions within the Counter Terrorism Department of KP to facilitate the effective prosecution of terrorism cases. The cabinet also approved the allocation of 10 more armoured vehicles for the police force to bolster their operational readiness.
