Sindh bans pillion riding in Karachi on August 25, 26, 27

Measure is aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and maintaining law and order

The Sindh Home Department has imposed a ban on motorcycle pillion riding in various parts of the province to maintain order during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

According to a notification issued by the Sindh Home Department, the ban on pillion riding will be in effect in the South Zone of Karachi from August 25 to 27. In the East Zone, the ban will be observed on August 26, while in the West Zone, it will be in place on August 25 and 26.

The notification further states that the ban will also be applicable in Hyderabad and Thatta on August 25 and 26, and in Dadu and Sajjawal from August 25 to 27.

The Sindh Home Department has clarified that the ban has been imposed based on the recommendation of the IGP in order to ensure the security and safety of the mourners during the Chehlum processions and gatherings.

This measure is aimed at preventing any untoward incidents and maintaining law and order during the important religious observance, which holds great significance for the Shia community.
