The Sindh government has announced a holiday in all educational institutions on August 26 (Monday) in observance of the Chehlum of Imam Hussain. The provincial Education Department’s steering committee made the decision.

The Chehlum ends the 40-day mourning period commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Husain in the battle of Karbala.

Meanwhile, the Department of College Education also announced a holiday on Monday and issued a notification regarding the holiday.

It should be noted that processions and gatherings are held at various places in the country. The mourners pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions who accompanied him in Karbala and sacrificed their lives for the sake of Islam.
