Cristiano Ronaldo gathers 10 million subscribers in just 90 minutes
Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has launched his YouTube channel, setting highest record of gaining 10 million subscribers in 90 minutes.
“The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,” Ronaldo posted on his social media accounts.
Ronaldo’s new YouTube channel reached 1 million subscribers in just 5 hours. As the story was being written, the subscriber count was approaching 3 million.
A couple of hours after posting his first video, the channel already had 1.69 million subscribers. By the time he had posted 18 videos, the subscriber count had grown to over 4.45 million.
This broke the previous record held by the K-pop group BTS, who had reached 1 million subscribers in 13 hours.
Ronaldo’s debut video, which gave a behind-the-scenes look at his training routine, quickly went viral and attracted millions of views within a short time.
The footballer posted a first video stating, “When I met the most famous Cristiano.”
In the days leading up to the launch of his YouTube channel, the Portuguese footballer Ronaldo dropped hints about his latest initiative.
On August 17, the Al Nassr legend posted a video on his social media, showing himself repeatedly trying to record a video in a living room set up in a studio.
At the start of the video, a voice-over can be heard saying: “When you ask Cristiano Ronaldo not to share info about his new project.”
