Foolproof security ordered for Chehlum and Data Ganj Bakhsh Urs in Lahore
Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin has directed the district administration to ensure foolproof security, similar to the arrangements made during Muharram, for the upcoming Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh as well as the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
Speaking at a review meeting on the security arrangements, Minister Yasin instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, to involve members of interfaith committees in the planning process.
The minister, accompanied by senior police officials, visited the routes to be used for the Urs and Chehlum processions to oversee the preparations.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran briefed the minister on the detailed police security arrangements for the Chehlum route. Minister Yasin stated that the Chief Minister of Punjab has ordered him to personally monitor the arrangements for the Data Ganj Bakhsh Urs, emphasizing that religious tolerance has always been a cherished value among the people of Lahore.
Arrangements have also been made to provide milk and water sabeels (water-coolers) for the convenience of the Urs pilgrims and Chehlum participants. Additionally, the Lahore Commissioner, Zaid Bin Maqsood, visited key locations along the Chehlum route to review the preparations, directing the completion of patchwork and removal of hanging wires.

The commissioner also said that the entire Chehlum route will be monitored using the city’s safe camera system, with additional cameras deployed as needed.
The authorities have taken these measures to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the upcoming religious events in Lahore, reaffirming the city’s commitment to maintaining communal harmony and providing a secure environment for the devotees.
