PTI adamant as Islamabad administration denies permission for holding jalsa

The Commissioner has cancelled the NOC issued by the DC

The Islamabad district administration has decided to deny permission to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a rally in the capital city. The decision was notified by the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad.

The notification stated that the decision was made after considering recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee.

The notification explained that a meeting of the District Intelligence Committee was held today under the chairmanship of the Chief Commissioner. The meeting was attended by the Inspector General of Police (IG) Islamabad and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad.

The meeting reviewed the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the DC Islamabad. The IG Islamabad expressed security concerns due to the presence of various events. The Commissioner has now decided to suspend the NOC issued on July 31.

PTI says rally to go ahead

Ali Amin Gandapur, a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has vowed to hold the party’s planned rally in Islamabad on Wednesday, defying the cancellation of the permit by the Islamabad administration.

Gandapur accused the federal government of acting in a dictatorial manner, stating that the Islamabad High Court had granted permission for the rally but the Islamabad Commissioner had revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC).

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister condemned the federal government’s decision and declared that he would lead the procession from the Swabi Interchange. He asserted that the rally would take place in Tarnol Chowk regardless of the obstacles.

“Tomorrow will prove that the power lies with the people, not with these mandate thieves,” he said.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser also issued a statement, stating that the party will hold the rally as per the Islamabad High Court’s permission. He warned that the federal government would be held responsible for any attempts to obstruct the rally.

Qaiser said that the PTI had applied for the rally at all relevant authorities, including the court, and reiterated their commitment to holding the event.

Section 144 imposed in Islamabad

Following the cancellation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s planned rally in Islamabad, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 throughout the province.

The decision comes after the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad requested the federal government to take steps to prevent PTI workers from entering the capital.

The order, effective from Thursday, August 22, to Saturday, August 24, prohibits all public gatherings, rallies, processions, sit-ins, and protests across Punjab.

The Punjab Home Department issued a notification citing security concerns and the potential for public gatherings to become soft targets for terrorists. The notification emphasizes that the implementation of Section 144 is in the public interest.

The notification further instructs the Punjab administration to ensure the enforcement of the order and to widely publicize the implementation of Section 144 to raise public awareness.
