YouTuber behind ‘Bill Bill Pakistan’ allegedly abducted

Renowned YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa, known for his satirical song “Bill Bill Pakistan” about exorbitant electricity bills during Independence Day, has been reportedly abducted by unknown individuals.

Ali Sher Khosa, Aun’s brother, took to X (formerly Twitter) to inform the public about the incident. He stated that armed men took Aun from their Lahore apartment in the middle of the night.

He urged users to pray for his brother’s safe return and to share the news widely, emphasizing its importance for their family.

The news of Aun’s abduction has sparked outrage on social media, with users expressing their shock and concern. Many believe that his satirical song about rising electricity bills was the reason behind his disappearance.

One user wrote, “It seems like Aun Khosa’s parody song led to his abduction. It’s shameful that people can’t even tolerate satire.”

The official Twitter account of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) condemned Aun’s abduction, stating, “Let the Pakistani people live. Don’t further destroy our moral values and democracy .” They demanded Aun’s release, along with all other missing persons, calling it unacceptable and illegal.

Social media user Imran Afzal Raja, a described Aun as a decent artist who works within his limits and never mocks anyone. He suggested that if someone is offended by his lighthearted humor, they should consider moving to an African country instead of resorting to such actions.

Internationally renowned poet Noshi Gilani also expressed her concern, tweeting, “Aun Ali Khosa has also disappeared. Masked men came and took him away.”

Aun’s song “Bill Bill Pakistan,” released on Independence Day, quickly gained popularity and garnered widespread appreciation from the public. Users praised him for effectively expressing public sentiments through his humorous content.

The incident has raised serious concerns about freedom of expression and the safety of artists in Pakistan.
