A new wave of monsoon rains is expected to hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province starting tomorrow, August 14. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of heavy to torrential rainfall from August 14 to 16, with intermittent showers continuing until August 18.

The monsoon winds are expected to penetrate the upper and middle regions of the province, potentially triggering landslides in the higher districts. The PMD has also warned of flooding in the plains and urban areas.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to district administrations, urging them to remain vigilant and ensure the availability of machinery to respond to any emergencies. The PDMA has also highlighted the threat of urban flooding, particularly in the plains.

The districts expected to receive rainfall include: Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Batagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, and Peshawar. Rainfall is also anticipated in Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, South and North Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Meanwhile, Balochistan is expected to experience warm and humid weather, with a possibility of thunderstorms in Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Loralai, and Ziarat.

The PMD reported that yesterday, the highest temperatures were recorded in Quetta and Turbat at 38 degrees Celsius, Kalat at 34 degrees Celsius, Zhob at 27 degrees Celsius, and Ziarat at 25 degrees Celsius. Sibi recorded 45 degrees Celsius, Nushki 46 degrees Celsius, Gwadar 34 degrees Celsius, and Jwani 33 degrees Celsius.
