The Punjab School Education Department has announced two weekly holidays for schools. The holidays will be effective starting August 15, when schools reopen.

According to the authorities, the decision to have Saturday and Sunday as the weekly two-day holidays was made to reduce the workload on teachers.

The School Education Department has also issued new school timings.

As per the new timings, single-shift schools will have their schedule from 8am to 1:30pm, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, school timings will be from 8am to 12pm.

The rationale behind the new weekly two-day holiday system and revised school timings is to ease the burden on teachers and provide them with more rest and preparation time.
