Rain spell begins in Karachi
More rain was reported in Karachi on Tuesday as the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) forecasted.
According to the Met Office, the spell of rainfall is expected to continue until August 6th.
As per the Air Quality Index, the air quality in the city has improved. Karachi has now moved down to the 9th position among the world’s most polluted cities, and 5th among the most polluted cities in Pakistan.
The concentration of pollutant particles (PM) in the air was recorded at 96 micrograms per cubic meter.
After intermittent heavy and light rain spells across different areas of Karachi, the weather has become pleasant.
Heavy rainfall was recorded in areas like Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, Karimabad, and North Nazimabad, while light rain was reported in Landhi, Korangi, Quaidabad, and Malir.

On the other hand, light rain was also reported on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Gulmohar, Sindhi Muslim Society, and Jamsheed Quarters, while heavy downpour was recorded on the Lyari Expressway.
As soon as the rains started, power outages occurred in many parts of Karachi, including Landhi, Malir, New Karachi, Shadman Town, Mangophir, and Orangi, among others. These prolonged power cuts caused inconvenience to the residents.
Light rain was reported in different areas of Karachi on July 29, Monday, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that the megacity could experience showers till Wednesday.
