A ceasefire has been reached between rival tribes in Kurram district after five days of intense clashes that left 27 people dead and over 150 injured. The clashes also involved the use of missiles.

The Parachinar-Peshawar main road remained closed to all traffic even after the ceasefire.

The conflict erupted between two tribes in Kurram over a land dispute, leading to a five-day exchange of fire across five locations in the district. Police say that both sides were using heavy weapons to target each other.

Official sources confirmed that the death toll has reached 27, with over 150 people injured in the clashes so far.

According to the police, the ceasefire was achieved in the village of Boshera through the efforts of the district administration, military leadership, police and tribal elders. The warring factions from Boshera, Malikai Khel and Dander have now agreed to the ceasefire.

Local residents have expressed frustration with the lack of action from authorities, accusing them of being mere spectators. They claim that the police, administration, security forces, and tribal elders have failed to establish a ceasefire.

The clashes have also led to the closure of the Peshawar-Parachinar road for the fifth consecutive day, along with the Pak-Afghan Khunjerab border. The closures have caused millions of rupees in losses for traders and farmers.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kuram has stated that efforts are underway to establish a ceasefire. However, the public has expressed their disappointment with the state’s inability to stop the fighting, blaming their inaction for the loss of lives.
