Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the largest medicines warehouse in Pakistan, located in Lahore. She has directed the authorities to make medicine warehouses in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan functional as soon as possible.

The CM has also inaugurated the provision of free medicines in various districts. A total of nine medicine warehouses have become operational across the province, with a combined capacity to store over 17 billion medicines and equipment.

Maryam Nawaz personally operated a forklift to launch the free medicines project. She inspected the furniture, medical equipment, and other goods to be provided to hospitals, and also checked the validity and temperature control of the stored medicines.

The Health Secretary informed that the new warehouses can store medicines at standard temperatures and facilitate their transportation. On the CM’s directive, these nine central warehouses have been established, stocking over Rs. 10 billion worth of medicines. Additionally, Rs. 7 billion worth of new and upgraded medical equipment, along with furniture and other supplies, will be provided to hospitals from these warehouses.

Furthermore, the CM met with the Chairman of the J-Seven (J7) Group, Maqbool Hussain Awan, and discussed the need for joint efforts to improve basic infrastructure and promote urban development and affordable housing in the province.

“We are encouraging private sector investment in the province,” said CM.

“We want to partner with the government to improve quality of life of people,” Chairman Maqbool Hussain Awan appreciated the Chief Minister’s vision on public service.
