Barrister Saif condemns ‘politics’ over Bannu incident

Adds that CM is focusing on the incident

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Barrister Saif has condemned attempts to politicize the recent incident in Bannu, stating that some rejected political figures are trying to exploit the situation for their own gain. He emphasized that the province, already deeply affected by terrorism, cannot afford any major incidents.

In a statement, Barrister Saif asserted that the public is aware of the negative intentions of those seeking to spread unrest. He assured the public that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, is closely monitoring the situation in Bannu.

Barrister Saif highlighted that the Chief Minister immediately dropped all other engagements to focus on Bannu after the incident. He stressed that preventing any major untoward incidents in Bannu is the provincial government’s top priority, and the Bannu administration is continuously keeping the Chief Minister informed.

The Information Minister revealed that negotiations are ongoing between a committee comprising local administration and social elders. He stated that peace has been restored in Bannu since the start of these negotiations, and the committee will work to ensure lasting peace in the region. A meeting between the committee and the Chief Minister is expected soon.

Barrister Saif further disclosed that a commission established on the orders of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will soon submit an inquiry report regarding the incident. He reiterated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered greatly from terrorism and cannot afford any major tragedies.

The Information Minister assured the public that protecting their lives and property is the provincial government’s top priority. He urged the public to cooperate with the provincial government and local administration in eliminating extremism.
