Former Supreme Court judge Justice (retd) Mushir Alam has reportedly withdrawn his name from consideration for the position of an ad-hoc judge, citing a negative social media campaign against him.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa had called a meeting of the Judicial Commission on July 19 to discuss the nominations of four individuals for ad-hoc judges.

According to media reports, Justice Alam wrote a letter to the Judicial Commission stating that he was deeply disappointed by the social media campaign that emerged after his nomination.

He expressed that he felt he had been given more honor than he deserved and that he was unable to serve as an ad-hoc judge under the current circumstances.
