A new park area is being developed in Karachi DHA Phase VI’s Darakshan Villas, Shagufta Nasreen, the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) Ward 6’s councillor, said at a meeting with residents of the area on Saturday.

According to a statement, residents complained of erratic garbage collection schedules, the absence of working street lights, issues related to water supply and sewerage as well as the development of a park in the open ground in the centre of their locality.

Nasreen assured that the park would be developed as a top priority. The councillor added that she would arrange assistance to clean and maintain the open plot in an effort to beautify the neighbourhood.

She told residents that the CBC would also arrange a greywater bowser on a weekly basis for speedy growth of the trees planted by residents of the area. “The cleaning of vacant plots that are filled with rubbish which is being done on a self-help basis will also be managed with the help of the CBC and the DHA to remove debris from the area,” it added.

Nasreen also promised a proper system for garbage collection as well as water supply to the area.

Residents also pointed out that owing to the presence of two schools in their locality, traffic jams and underage driving were a constant problem for residents. To this, Nasreem vowed that she would take up the issue with the traffic police. For its part, the schools would be encouraged to implement a traffic management system as is seen in other schools of DHA.
