Two out of 18 prisoners who escaped from the jail in from Rawalakot prison have been arrested.

The arrested suspects are Usman and Faizan, who were apprehended from the jungle.

The Inspector General of Prisons had written a letter to the Registrar of the High Court on May 30, in which he had declared the District Jail Rawalkot as highly unsafe, considering the possibility of the escape of dangerous prisoners.

The letter had mentioned that Ghazi Shehzad, Muhammad Ayaz, and Taimoor Mumtaz were dangerous prisoners, and should be shifted to another jail.

The jail building was described as dilapidated and old, with no security wall outside the jail, and a busy highway passing nearby.

Around 19 inmates, including several convicted of serious crimes, escaped the facility after overpowering a guard and breaching the main gate.

Four days after a daring escape of 19 prisoners from Rawalakot District Jail in Azad Kashmir, authorities are still searching for the fugitives. The escape, which occurred on June 30th, has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about security at the jail.
