Sindh govt to give Rs1 million to families of people killed by street crime

Shah acknowledges 84 people have been killed this year

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a compensation of Rs1 million each to the families of those who lost their lives while resisting dacoity in the province from January to date.

Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Shah acknowledged that 84 people had been killed in dacoity incidents since January. He expressed regret, stating that he and his ministers should have visited the families of the victims.

“We will provide Rs1 million to the families of all those who lost their lives in dacoity incidents from January till now,” Shah announced.

He further criticized the caretaker government, stating that it is not their duty to obstruct the work of the elected government.

He highlighted that the federal government has withheld Rs76 billion, allocated Rs25-30 billion for the K-4 project, and has a Rs40 billion plan for which the Sindh government has allocated Rs3 billion.

The announcement comes amidst rising concerns over the increasing incidents of dacoity in the province.
