The Sindh government has ordered the relocation of LNG and LPG shops outside of populated areas.

The notification was issued due to a cylinder blast incident in Hyderabad, which claimed 27 lives as the Sindh government has decided to crackdown on illegal LNG and LPG shops.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar expressed the need to relocate the LNG and LPG shops far from residential neighborhoods.

Sindh Home Department has issued a directive to all Deputy Commissioners.

The Sindh Home Department’s directives also instruct that inspections of LNG and LPG shops be conducted, substandard cylinders be seized, and the shops be required to operate as per standard operating procedures.

He further said that the Deputy Commissioners should inspect the LNG and LPG shops every week and submit reports.

In the Preetabad area of Hyderabad, a gas cylinder shop caught fire and exploded, leaving 60 people injured.

Of those injured, 21 severely burned victims were transported to the hospital. The explosion caused several of the cylinders in the shop to rupture and explode. The blast and resulting fire also caused damage to the surrounding buildings.
