Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that all necessary measures are being taken to prepare for the potential floods.

In the Sindh Assembly Budget Session, Shah stated that over 4,000 metric tons of soil has been added for the construction of new gates at the Sukkur Barrage.

The Sindh Chief Minister explained that the new Sukkur Barrage gates will be received from the shipyard on July 20th.

He stated that all the work related to the Sukkur Barrage gates has been completed within 72 hours.

Shah said that water is now being released from the Sukkur Barrage gradually.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar informed the assembly that there is a shortage of 42,000 personnel in the police force.

He has discussed with the Chief Minister the provision of compensation to the families of those killed by street criminals in Karachi.

Lanjar stated that if the personnel assigned to VIP duties are removed, there would be one officer for 600-700 people across Sindh.

The Provincial Home Minister said that the law and order situation in the province is rapidly improving. The provincial government should increase the bounty on the heads of hardened criminals.

The Sindh Assembly continued the 6th day of budget discussions. The opposition has submitted 1,236 cut motions.
