The people of Karachi got some relief from the hot weather on Friday evening after rain was reported in different areas of the city.

Rain was reported in Quaidabad, Scheme 33, Defence View, Bahria Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Kharadar, Landhi, Numaish, Azizabad, and Shah Faisal Colony.

The change in weather is because of the shallow westerly wave which approached western parts of the country on June 18, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s weather forecast last week.

Dust storm and gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms were expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Larkana on June 21 and 22 under the influence of the weather system.

Karachi could experience thunderstorms and potential rainfall in the coming days, according to independent weather experts.

They claimed that from Friday to Sunday, between afternoon and evening, cloud formations with thunderstorms were expected to develop in the northwest and northeast regions surrounding Karachi. If these thunderstorms maintain their intensity, they could result in gusty winds or rainfall, especially in the suburban areas of the city.

Furthermore, a circulation system forming over the Bay of Bengal is expected to move westward under the influence of offshore troughs from June 24 to 28.

A western weather system is set to impact Pakistan, bringing thunderstorms and rain to most parts of the country over the next 3-4 days.

Weatherwalay, a private weather company in the country, said a westerly system was affecting the country. Under this influence, rain was expected in many parts of Pakistan

From Friday to Sunday, northern, western, and central regions of Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shahdadkot, Naushahro Feroze, Dadu, Johi, Sehwan, and surrounding areas, were expected to experience thunderstorms with the possibility of gusty winds, hail, and lightning strikes.

In Karachi, thunderclouds were expected to develop in the northwest and northeast parts of the city from Friday afternoon to evening.
