Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has condemned India’s oppression and brutalities against Kashmiris in the occupied region, according to a statement from the military’s media wing.

He said this while addressing the troops during a visit to the Line of Control in the Haji Pir sector on Monday to celebrate Eidul Azha with them. Upon arrival, the Rawalpindi Corps commander received the COAS.

Pakistan joined several Muslim nations today to celebrate the holy occasion. Eidul Azha marks the end of the Hajj and commemorates Prophet Ibraham’s (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to Allah.

The COAS offered Eid prayers with officers and soldiers at the front line, praying for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity. On the festive occasion, he paid respects to the sacrifices of the martyrs.

The army chief commended their dedication, high morale, and commitment to defending the motherland. “As soldiers, we take pride in celebrating such festivities away from our homes and loved ones while on duty, ensuring the security of our country and fellow citizens,” COAS Munir said.

While discussing the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the army chief reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance, aligned with relevant UN resolutions.

He noted that post-election, India has been attempting to “mask its aggression and victimisation of the Kashmiri people with false propaganda and provocations” against Pakistan. The army chief added that such tactics, including manufacturing false flag operations, have “become a routine political tool” of India.

Earlier this month, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in for a third term after worse-than-expected election results left him reliant on coalition partners to govern.

Modi’s Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party ruled outright for the past decade but failed to repeat its previous two landslide wins this time around, defying analysts’ expectations and exit polls. He was instead forced into quick-fire talks with the 15-member coalition, the National Democratic Alliance, which guaranteed him the parliamentary numbers to govern.

“Pakistan has always supported peace and stability in the region; however, any provocation or violation of Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty will be met with a swift and resolute response, with the full support of the nation, InshaAllah,” COAS Munir said.
