Opposition threatens to disrupt budget session
The opposition has threatened to not allow the finance minister to deliver his speech as the government is set to present the Rs18 trillion federal budget 2024-25 in the National Assembly on Wednesday (today).
Chief Whip of the Opposition Aamer Dogar has stated that they would not let Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb deliver his speech. He claimed that the “future of 240 million people has been handed over to an unelected person” and they would not let him proceed.
Earlier in the day, a joint meeting of the Sunni Alliance Council and the PTI parliamentary party was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, where it was decided to protest during the session.
Moreover, the NA’s sergeant-at-arms has completed preparations to handle any “unruly situation” during the budget session. The sergeants are stationed outside the speaker’s dais to deal with any emergency situation that may arise.
