British pop star Griff revealed that her upcoming role as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London on June 22 can be traced back to a chance encounter at a Kendrick Lamar concert in November 2022.

“I bumped into Taylor at a Kendrick Lamar concert in London. It was surreal,” Griff recounted.

“We spoke a little, and she mentioned that at some point she would love to have me [as an opener on tour one day]. I was dying.”, Griff stated.

The initial meeting at the Kendrick Lamar show seemingly sparked a musical friendship between the two artists.

Months later, Swift further demonstrated her support for Griff by sharing the singer’s song “Vertigo” on her Instagram story, heightening the anticipation for a potential collaboration.

Griff, who had previously met Swift backstage at the 2021 BRIT Awards, is particularly excited to perform “Vertigo” on the Eras Tour, knowing that the pop superstar is a fan of her work.

“Fearless was the first album I remember falling in love with as a kid. I’m always so inspired by how she can have such a huge career but stay so close to the songwriting process,” Griff expressed.

The “Miss Me Too” singer is “very excited” for the June 22 show and feels “forever eternally grateful” to Swift and her fans for the warm welcome and opportunity.
